Dr. Cho adjusts primarily using Diversified technique and techniques looking at the whole person by examining spinal misalignments, nerve dysfunction, foundational imbalance, and motion disturbances.  Adjustments are then made to help restore natural spinal alignment and optimal movement.

The Activator Method Chiropractic Activator Adjustment tool Kapilano Wellness

The Activator Method is a type of chiropractic technique that uses a small, handheld instrument called an "Activator" to deliver precise, gentle impulses to the spine. Unlike traditional manual chiropractic adjustments that involve twisting and cracking, this method aims to realign vertebrae and other joints with minimal force. It's particularly popular among patients who prefer a more gentle approach or have conditions that make manual adjustments less ideal.

Neuromuscular Stimulation Electrotherapy Neuromuscular stimulation Kapilano Wellness

Also known as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), is a therapeutic technique that uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscle contractions. Electrodes are placed on the skin over the targeted muscles. These electrodes deliver electrical impulses that mimic the action potential from the central nervous system, causing the muscles to contract. NMES is used for Neuromuscular stimulation therapy, is a therapeutic treatment that applies gentle electrical stimulation to treat pain, reduce inflammation, swelling, edema, muscle spasms and trigger points. It is commonly used for rehabilitation after injuries and surgeries and it can also be used as a preventive tool for athletes to enhance muscle performance and recovery.

Myofascial Release IASTM Myofascial release tool Kapilano Wellness

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a type of muscle therapy that targets the fascia, which is the thin, tough connective tissue that wraps around every muscle and organ in your body, providing support and structure. Over time, the fascia can become tight and restrictive, leading to pain and reduced mobility. Gentle sustained pressure is applied to stretch the fascia until a release is felt. This helps reduce pain, loosen the tight tissue, and improve movement. MFR can help with a variety of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and injuries. It’s often used to aid recovery and improve overall function. Instrument assisted myofascial release may also be used to help assist the release of myofascial connective tissue restrictions to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, reduce swelling, muscle pain and spasms, and aid in recovery and range of motion.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a type of massage therapy specifically aimed at relieving pain caused by trigger points, which are tight areas within muscle tissue that cause pain in other parts of the body (referred pain). These are hyper-irritable spots in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle. They can develop from stress, injury, or overuse and often cause referred pain. Pressure is applied to these trigger points, typically using their fingers, knuckles, or elbows. The goal is to break down the tightness and knots within the muscle, reducing pain and improving mobility, and enhance overall muscle function. It's commonly used to treat conditions like tension headaches, neck and back pain, and myofascial pain syndrome.

Spinal Decompression

We use non surgical spinal decompression to help treat back or neck pain, sciatica, bulging or herniated discs, worn spinal joints, and injured or diseased spinal nerve roots. Spinal decompression gently stretches the spine to change the force and position of the spine. By making this change, pressure is removed from the spinal discs and bulging or herniated discs may retract.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves above the range of human hearing to interact with tissues in the body that are either modified or injured. It creates a deep heat and increases the blood flow to the area being treated to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation.
